芬欧汇川常熟纸厂座落于长江沿岸，一期总投资6.24亿美元, 于1999年3月投产，年生产能力为35万吨优质文化用纸。二期增资4.7亿美元扩建的生产线于2005年第二季度投产，年生产能力为45万吨文化用纸。随着第二条生产线的投产，芬欧汇川常熟纸厂的年产能力达到80万吨, 一跃成为中国最大的全化学木浆胶版纸和复印纸生产商。除主体造纸生产设备外，芬欧汇川常熟纸厂还自备有100MW的发电厂和专用的多功能码头，确保了能源的供给，以及生产原料和成品的运输畅通。

为最大限度地降低对环境的负载，芬欧汇川常熟纸厂引进世界先进的环保技术与设施，投资2.86亿元人民币建设了包括废水处理、废气处理、噪音防治、固废回收利用等一整套环保系统。由于在环境保护方面的卓越表现，芬欧汇川常熟纸厂先后获得了由国家、省、市颁发的环境保护领域的多项殊荣。 2005年11月芬欧汇川常熟纸厂又获得了中国环保领域的最高褒奖——由国家环保总局授予的“国家环境友好企业”的称号。

不仅如此，芬欧汇川常熟纸厂还分别于2003年3月，2004年7月和2005年4月顺利通过了ISO 14001环境管理体系认证、ISO 9001质量管理体系认证和OSHSAS 18001职业健康与安全管理体系认证。

芬欧汇川（常熟）纸业有限公司在厂区建有成品仓库，并在北京、上海、广州和武汉设有销售分公司。通过集团强大的销售网络，公司每年还将1/3的产品出口到亚太的其它国家和地区。

With a history of over 100 years, UPM-Kymmene Group is one of the leading forest products group in the world. UPM-Kymmene (Changshu) Paper Industry Co., Ltd. (the "Company"), which is located in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China is a subsidiary of UPM-Kymmene Group and the single largest Finnish investment project in China with a total investment exceeding USD 1 billion.

The Company has, on its premises along the Yangtze River, a paper mill ("UPM Changshu Mill") with two paper machines (PM1 and PM2) producing high quality printing and office papers. PM 2 started up in March 1999 with a total investment of USD 624 million and an annual capacity of 350,000 tons whereas PM1 was completed in May 2005 with a total investment of USD 470 million and an additional capacity of 450,000 tons per annum. The completion of the PM1 project has added the total capacity of UPM Changshu Mill up to 800,000 tons per years and has enabled the Company to become the largest wood-free uncoated fine paper manufacturer in China.

In addition to the above two paper machines, UPM Changshu Mill is also built with an in–house power plant sufficient enough for the production of the two paper machines and a self-sufficient jetty in order to ensure the smooth logistics flow for its raw materials and finished products.

In order to minimize the impact on the environment in the course of its business operation, UPM Changshu Mill has spared no efforts in employing the best-available environmental technology and equipment and the total environmental investment of the Mill topped RMB 286 million as of 2005. A complete facilities has been built to treat efficiently the effluent, air emission, noises and solid waste. The Mill has been awarded with a number of titles and honours from the city, provincial and state level environmental authorities for its excellent environmental performance. In November 2005, UPM Changshu Mill was awarded the title of "Environmentally Friendly Enterprises of China" – the highest of its kind in China by the State Administration of Environmental Protection.

UPM Changshu Mill was also certified with ISO 14001 in March 2003, ISO 9001 in July 2004 and OSHSAS 18001 in April 2005.

As part of its sales network, UPM Changshu Mill has a finished product warehouse on its premises and four sales branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Wuhan. The Mill is currently selling almost 1/3 of its products to countries and regions in Asia Pacific through the group's strong and global sales network.

UPM Raflatac has a global service network consisting of 11 manufacturing centres on five continents. A comprehensive network of sales offices and terminals brings UPM Raflatac products and services closer to its customers. In China, UPM Raflatac has a new manufacturing centre in Changshu and terminals located in Tianjin and Guangzhou. Sales offices in Beijing and Shanghai are also a core part of UPM Raflatac’s Chinese operations. The company employs around 2,500 people and in 2006 made sales of approximately USD 1.3 billion.
